Today, the children had their first meeting with the T.E.R.A. Project robots
The TRACK3R Robot is made from the Lego Mindstorms set, and has the shape of a car. Equipped with two large motion motors, a medium propeller engine and an infra-red sensor, the TRACK3R is the model we used to habituate children with these devices. Alpha humanoid robot (named by children: “Vasile”)
An eye-catching robot, Vasile is equipped with a multitude of electric motors. These allow him to make Kung Fu moves, do push-ups and dance. Maybe even sing and tell about the Trojan Horse. Stefi, always impressed by robots and how they work, watched them for the rest of the session. He constantly asked questions like “Does it move by itself?!” or “But does he know how to sing?” He could barely wait to control robots on his phone via Bluetooth. For Robert and Denis, this was their first contact with the robots. Initially, they both fled, especially when the TRACK3R robot followed them through the room. However, in a short while, they both approached and even touched them, being curious about the wires and wheels the robots were built from. They were so involved that they even mounted the infra-red sensor on the TRACK3R robot, when Stefi said: ‘Look! Now the robot can see us!”
The T.E.R.A. project is co-financed by the Brașov County Council
